Joel Kaplan
Chief Cinematographer
Joel Kaplan has been involved with regional, national and international
television productions since 1978. His experience runs the gamut from
PBS documentaries to music videos, multi-camera field productions,
corporate communications, infomercials, children’s programming and
entertainment specials.
Mr. Kaplan has been honored with 12 EMMY nominations - receiving
9 awards, 13 Telly awards, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting
Silver Award, The Aurora Award, Media Award for Video Excellence
in Economic Understanding, and three Communicator Crystal Awards.
Mr. Kaplan’s professional experience began at WPBT-Channel 2, Public Television in Miami, Florida where he was employed from 1978 to 1995. His job requirements there included among other things, shooting and editing for the critically acclaimed national program, “The Nightly Business Report”, as well as Electronic Field Productions, A/B roll BetaSP editing and AVID non-linear editing for other programs as needed.
Joel has produced programming seen nationally on PBS, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, HGTV, Hallmark Channel, Sci-Fi Channel, The Learning Channel, VH-1, MTV, ABC sports, USA Network, CNBC, TNN and the Travel Channel. Our client list also includes, Newsweek Productions, National Parks Service, Cousteau Foundation, National/Alamo Car Rental, United States Postal Service, Baptist Health Care Systems, and many others.
